FOCUS: Binational Exhibition celebrated the work of 22 teens in San Diego and Mexico City who collaborated to create a multimedia exhibition about the impact of violence in both cultures, including portraits taken by Marissa Bennett and artwork produced by Marissa Bennett, Allison Zau, and Lulu Zhu.
This specific work documented survivors of different forms of violence and was publicly on display between the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego and Santa Fe Depot Train Station in San Diego, California. Interviews with these survivors of domestic violence, child abuse, and fleeing North Korea can be found here.
The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego's Teen Advisory Group worked with teens from the Museo Tamayo in Mexico City over a year, which included visits to both countries during weeklong exchanges. The Binational Showcase featured the students’ final artworks inspired by this important partnership, featuring photography, video installations, and sculptural works.
